Test Details:
Test start date: 10-August-2003Completion date 31-August-2003
Quantity of waste 10000 kgs (10 MT)
Pretreatment:
1. Remove in-organic material such as glass pieces, plastic, cotton fibre, paper, metal rings, hair balls, etc.
Total in-organic waste removed : 1200 Kgs
2. Created ten heaps of the organic waste – 10000-1200 = 8800 into ten heaps, i.e. each heap had 880 kgs waste.
3. A solution of 10 Liter water and 1 kg Arkaay powder was spreyed from all sides on each heap. This is to get rid of the obnoxious smell.
Treatment:
Each heap was treated with a slurry of Amrit – Bio-Conversion – En-richer.
To make slurry mix 2 kgs Amrit powder in 15 liter water.
Pray the slurry with hand pump evenly on the heap.
Record the temperature each day. The Amrit treatment will increase temperature of the heap to up to 70 deg. Celcius temperature increased gradually from 40 deg Celcius on first day to 68 deg Celcius on 16th day. Then it started coming down and was 38.2 degree Celcius on 21st day. The average room temperature was 37 deg Celcius.
Adjust the humidity of each heap to 50% to 60%. Water was prayed on day 8th, 11th, 13th , 15th , 16th and 18th day. Humidity was 60 % on 21st day.
Result on 21st day: A fine, coarse, granular, smell-free, dark brown colored fertilizer formed. Total weight of fertilizer 8668 kgs – i.e. about 86% of the total waste used for the treatment.
Post-Treatment:
Each was dried in open air for about a week.
Remove non-biodegradable material by sieving.
What remains is the fertilizer that can now be used for plants. This fertilizer was found to
be very beneficial for plants at home and also for city plants. It contains high amount of nitrous oxide which is good for overall health of the plant.
